As Cuba and the United States diplomatic relations began to normalise under President Obama, the World Pension Forum mobilised one of the first trade missions of institutional investors to travel into Cuba and engage directly with the leadership of government, academia and civil society. Hearing the country’s vision from a multitude of stakeholders from Cuba’s society provided an unparalleled opportunity for investors to make aligned investment decisions that will enable society’s aspirations to come to life. While controversial at the time, this trade mission was one of the organizations most popular and we have been inundated with requests to organize another trade mission.
